Confusion over pinewood from Western Australia
The following has been brought to our attention by NatRoad. A new regulation for the movement of pinewood from Western Australia could be implemented on 1st January 2012. The regulation is designed to prevent the movement of the European House Borer from Western Australia. This means that the movement of untreated pinewood from Western Australia would be prohibited.
This would be of concern to Loscam as their pallets are made from pinewood. Loscam have been in consultation with the Government department involved and it looks like there will be no problem with the movement of Loscam pallets. It is still not clear if the legislation will come into play on 1st January but if you are involved in the movement of pinewood from Western Australia then it may be best to keep an eye open. Pallet Dispute Resolution
If you have a pallet problem and you don’t want to incur expensive legal costs then the Office of the Victorian Small Business Commisioner may be able to help you. They invite the parties together and offer a mediation service. You will find that they are aware of many of the problems people experience with pallets. They are also working with industry to help improve current pallet hire practices.
